The subject of pathology is the science which deals with the study and diagnosis of diseases afflicting the normal healthy cells. The department of pathology has separated the subject into three main categories: General pathology, Special pathology and Microbiology. The division of the subject helps to focus more on each area. Separate labs/experiments and tutorials are conducted for each division. The students are taught the subject thoroughly putting more focus on general pathology and microbiology.

Pathology is an exciting discipline because it transcends the traditional boundaries between basic and clinical sciences. With advances in molecular biology, the completion of the human genome project, and develop-ment of sophisticated technology such as next generation sequencing and proteomics. We are poised to understand the pathogenesis of human diseases at the molecular level.
