The department of Periodontology provides periodontal care to the community, where diseases of the gums and the related soft tissues are diagnosed and treated accordingly. Students are taught the basics of periodontology, learning how to prevent, diagnose and treat periodontal problems of all types. Students are also exposed to a variety of oral problems, and carry out treatment like dental scaling and polishing, deep curettage, root planing and perio surgeries. The department has a large flow of patients and provides optimal, comprehensive periodontal care for the highly diverse population, with rigorous quality assurance and patient satisfaction.

The department of oral medicine deals with patient care, teaching and research involving diagnosis and non-surgical management of diseases of the orofacial complex and systemic and behavioral disorders that impact oral health, including: Orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), Mucosal diseases, Oral cancer and complications of cancer therapy, Dental care for patients with disabilities, Salivary dysfunction, Oral complications of systemic illnesses, Craniofacial imaging and other diagnostics and dental emergency care. Management of any condition or lesion includes careful diagnosis by means of radiographs, biopsies and blood tests, leading to its definitive treatment.
