POST GRADUATION SERVICES
On the establishment of FJDC in 1992, it was realized that there was no worthwhile and effective postgraduate program for dentistry in Pakistan. The five public sector dental colleges functional at that time, were grossly deficient and lacked adequately qualified and sufficiently experienced faculty to supervise postgraduate candidates.
FJDC in 1993 sponsored the Royal College of England to run courses and hold FDS RCS Part I examination in Karachi, in Collaboration with the British Council. This was the first time the Royal College extended these facilities outside U.K.
The Royal College team consisting of Dr. Johan Rayne, Dr. Roger Linden, Dr. B.K.B. Berkovitz and Dr. D.A. Luke, conducted a two month preparatory course before holding the FDS RCS Part I examination. FJDC has a standing offer from the Royal College of England to hold such exercise whenever the need is felt.
It was only then, in 1994, that the CPSP took up post-graduation in dentistry. It is heartening to note that post-graduation in dentistry has, over these years, established its self in Pakistan and sufficient faculty is being produced for its need.
Fatima Jinnah Dental College was recognized for Post graduate teaching by College of Physician & Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) and Pakistan Medical Dental Council (PMDC) in year 1995. Currently training is offered for FCPS (Fellowship program) and MCPS (Membership program) in Operative Dentistry.
These programs are supervised by highly qualified and experienced dental professionals. The trainees of FJDC are known for their skills and unparallel training experience. Postgraduates of FJDC have outstanding performance; they have occupied numerous key assignments in the country and abroad.
Faculty Development Program (FDP) of Fatima Jinnah Dental College, has produced numerous Professors / Assoc. & Asst. Professors in various basic sciences, medical & dental clinical subjects, with MCPS, FCPS from CPSP and Ph.D., M.Phil., M.S., M.Sc. etc. from various National and International Universities.
Future Plans : Facilities for starting masters program in various other dental and medical, basic and clinical specialties, are in final stage and will commence soon.
